Sitting in my own accounting classes over the years, I grew a different kind of respect for accounting majors. It was in those classes that I learned the intricate details of accounting at my HBCU in order to apply them to the businesses I scale all over the world today.
However, in my career, I’ve found that black accountants and firms need just as much professional development and connection to the cause of financial literacy in their communities as finance and business professionals beyond taxes and audits.
Therefore, I built the Community Wealth Team that provides sophomore, junior and senior level undergraduate students with the training, professional development and paid real world experience. Collegiate accounting majors will be trained on the aspects of personal and business finance as it particularly relates to black people for 3 weeks. This training will be used, evaluated and documented during the professional development phase of the community wealth team in practice with individuals and families for 3 weeks.
Finally, collegiate accounting majors will enter a 2 year contract after 90 Days of training and professional development to operate with their earned certification of their choosing for a competitive rate of pay. The contract will position accounting majors with ongoing B2B and B2C responsibilities designed to move yourself and the culture towards multi-generational wealth.
The Community Wealth Team equips accounting majors with the business skills necessary to engage all levels of income before graduation and the CPA exam for both personal and business outside of taxes. Collegiate accounting majors will be prepared with the knowledge, skills, business acumen and network necessary to build a lucrative firm of their own if they elect not to join Corporate America upon graduation.
No matter your choice, you will be able to utilize your Community Wealth certification to supplement the income of your salary or business with a great impact to the community for as long as you choose with no egregious strings attached.
As I scaled businesses in my companies I would always run into MBAs that were overworked and underpaid across industries. It wasn’t until I decided to assess the differences and reasons that I found the real issues plaguing MBA graduates.
The college curriculum does not reflect the business economy or ecosystem. The majority of programs do not include real world experiences nor do they permit the allowance of practicing or applying supposed skills learned in the classroom. MBA programs are not designed to teach or instruct the intricate details of business or the skills required to solve major business problems throughout companies of all sizes.
Therefore, I built the Community Business Team that provides MBA students with the training, professional development and paid real world experience. Collegiate MBA students will be trained on the aspects of business development as it particularly relates to black companies for 3 weeks. This training will be used, evaluated and documented during the professional development phase of the community business team in practice with business owners, entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals for 3 weeks.
